The 5-second verdict
Gelbooru's landing page is about as quiet as imageboards get: no ad slots, no trackers to speak of, no popups. Loads clean on mobile too.
- Best for
- Tag-based browsing of adult art and comics without ad clutter
- The catch
- Content is user-uploaded, so quality and tagging accuracy vary between posts.
What we measured

Last checked: Sep 7, 2026
Upsides
- Zero ad slots detected
- No known tracking or ad hosts
- Works fine on a phone screen
- No notification nags or autoplay tricks
Downsides
- User-submitted content means inconsistent quality
- Free imageboard, so no curation guarantees
Gelbooru measures clean across the board — no ad slots, only one third-party domain contacted, and none of it flagged as ad or tracking infrastructure. No notification nags, no autoplay audio, nothing pushing you around.
For a free imageboard that's notable. Most sites in this category run on ad revenue and it shows in load times and popup counts. Gelbooru's landing page doesn't do any of that, and it renders fine on a 390px phone screen.
The safety picture is solid, but the tradeoff is the same as with any tag-driven imageboard: content is community-uploaded, so consistency depends on who's posting and tagging that day.
