The 5-second verdict
EmpFlix loads a popunder-style ad script and sends your first click off-site, which is the main strike against it. Not the worst tube around, but not clean either.
- Best for
- Casual browsing if you don't mind stray redirects
- The catch
- First click on the landing page takes you off-site, and a known popunder script loads before you do anything.
What we measured

- Loads known popunder / ad-network scripts
- 1 ad slot on the landing page
- Contacts 12 third-party domains on load
- 3 known ad / tracking hosts
Last checked: Sep 10, 2026
Upsides
- Works fine on a phone screen
- No forced signup wall
- No autoplay-with-sound nuisance
Downsides
- First click redirects off-site
- Loads a known popunder/ad-loader script
- 3 known ad/tracking hosts contacted
EmpFlix passes on the basics: HTTPS, no notification nag, no signup wall blocking the page, and it renders fine on a 390px phone screen. But the crawler caught a popunder-style ad script firing and your first click leaving the site instead of doing what you clicked for.
Only one ad slot showed up on the landing page itself, so this isn't a site buried in banners. The bigger issue is the redirect behavior and the tracking footprint, three known ad or tracking hosts among six third-party domains contacted, which is a real number for a tube site, not a false positive.
Treat the first click on any thumbnail with suspicion, it may bounce you somewhere else before landing on actual video. Nothing here shows up in malware feeds, so the risk is annoyance and tracking rather than anything worse.
